Enchanted Sword
This article aims to help you paint a sword so that it looks enchanted. I think it makes a character look extra special, so here you go:
Colours:
Step 1
Prime the sword with a black basecoat.
Step 2
Paint the bits that would normally be silver, silver. But instead of drybrushing or anything just give them a flat silver coating of paint.
Step 3
Paint the blade of the sword with watered down blue paint, or blue ink. I don't however know if using inks works as I haven't tried it. Make sure that the blue wash covers the blade of the sword and doesn't start to form puddles.
Step 4
When the blue wash is totally, totally dry, use a paler blue, or a lightened other blue, to do some very fine lines in lots of overlapping X's. You will probably need to use a very fine brush with only a tiny amount of paint on it.
Step 5
In the bottom 1/2 centimetre from the hilt of the sword do a darker wash and blend it into the previous colour. This may need a lot of practice to get looking good.
Step 6
Finish painting the sword. I would normally paint the hilt gold, as it looks more fancy. I also think that the gold and blue go together.
